SIG-MR
One-coat gypsum plaster

Description
SIG-MR is a one-coat gypsum plaster for internal walls and ceilings. One coat of 6 to 20 mm gives a white, flat and smooth surface. It needs no water curing.
We make SIG-MR at Panvel. NABL laboratories test it against IS 2547. The QR code on every bag opens the test certificate of that batch.
Where to use
- Brick and AAC block: plaster directly.
- Mivan and RCC: Gypbond Pro goes on first. Then plaster.
- One coat, 6 to 20 mm thick.
Features
- 27 sq ft from one 25 kg bag at 13 mm. Measured on a site wall, losses included.
- 93%+ white. A whiter base needs less putty and gives paint a brighter colour.
- Sets in 15 minutes. Or up to 30 minutes, made to order.
- One coat. 6 to 20 mm in a single coat.
- No water curing. No curing wait before the next trade.
- Does not burn. Gypsum is non-combustible.
- Lighter. Less load than sand-cement plaster.
- Low heat flow. Gypsum conducts little heat.
- NABL tested. Eight results against IS 2547.
- QR on every bag. Scan it. Read the test report.

| Fineness | 1.65% left on a 150 µm sieve | IS 2547: not more than 5% | NABL report |
| Surface hardness | 3.9 mm ball indentation | IS 2547: 3.0 to 4.5 mm | NABL report |
| Expansion on setting | 0.10% | IS 2547: not more than 0.2% | NABL report |
| Pull-off strength on hollow block, with no bonding coat | about 1 N/mm² | At 35 days. Report figure: 0.96 N/mm², the average of three cores. | NABL report |
| pH | about 7 | Our range: 6 to 8 | Company test |
| Bulk density | 720 kg/m³ | Untapped powder. Our range: 600 to 800 | Company test |

| Loss on ignition | 6.18% | IS 2547: 4 to 9% | NABL report |
| Shelf life | 1 year | In the closed bag, in a dry store, off the floor | |
| Mix | 1 water : 1.25 plaster | ||
| Thickness | 6 to 20 mm in one coat | ||
| Working time | Use each mix before it sets | Final set: 15 min standard, up to 30 min to order. General practice: mix only what you can apply in this time. Do not add water to a mix that has started to set. | |
| Drying time before paint | Typical: 3 days | General practice for gypsum plaster. The time depends on the thickness and the weather. The plaster must be dry before you prime and paint. | |
| Tools | Mixing tray, trowel, straightedge | General practice. Use clean tools and clean water. | |
| Cleaning | Wash the tools with water before the plaster sets | General practice. Set plaster on a tool or in the tray makes the next mix set faster. |
The latest result of each test. Strength, hardness, fineness, setting and expansion are from one sample, July 2026. Setting time is the final set of a test sample: site time depends on water, batch and weather. A line marked "typical" or "general practice" is common to gypsum plasters: it is not a test result of this product.
Coverage
| Thickness | sq ft per kg | sq ft per 25 kg bag | 25 kg bags for 1,000 sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 mm | 1.40 | 35.1 | 29 |
| 13 mm | 1.08 | 27.0 | 38 |
| 15 mm | 0.94 | 23.4 | 43 |
| 20 mm | 0.70 | 17.6 | 57 |
27 sq ft from one 25 kg bag at 13 mm is measured on site. Coverage at another thickness is scaled in proportion. Bags are whole bags.
Application
- Clean. The wall must have no dust and no oil.
- Prime. Mivan and RCC only: roll on one coat of Gypbond Pro. Let it dry for 24 hours. Plaster within 14 days of coating. Brick and AAC block need no bonding coat.
- Measure. 1 part water to 1.25 parts plaster.
- Mix. Mix until smooth.
- Apply. One coat, 6 to 20 mm thick.
- Finish. Level the surface. Then trowel it.
- No water curing. Do not water the plaster after it sets.
Limits
- For internal walls and ceilings.
- One coat is not more than 20 mm.
- On Mivan and RCC, do not plaster without Gypbond Pro.
Packaging
- SIG-MR-25: 25 kg bag.
- SIG-MR-20: 20 kg bag.
- SIG-MR-15: 15 kg bag.
- A QR code on every bag opens the test certificate of that batch.
Storage and shelf life
- Store the bags closed, in a dry and covered place.
- Keep them off the floor and away from damp walls.
- General practice, from IS 4082 for bagged cement: stack not more than 10 bags high.
- Shelf life: 1 year, in the closed bag.
Health and safety
- Gypsum plaster is a fine powder. Do not breathe the dust: wear a dust mask when you open a bag and when you mix.
- Wear gloves and eye protection.
- If powder or wet plaster gets in the eyes, rinse them with clean water.
- Wet plaster becomes hot as it sets. Never let plaster set around a hand or another body part: it can burn.
- Wash your hands after work. Keep the bags away from children.
